Pictish Afternoon at Dingwall Library

In 2019 a Pictish cross slab was found in Conon Bridge. Currently being conserved, it will be installed at Dingwall Museum later in this year. Join us for an afternoon to learn more about the stone and Pictish settlement in the area. Free, and all welcome, with donations gratefully received for the fund organised by NoSAS and Pictish Arts Society  to conserve, install and promote the stone. No booking needed.

1-2pm: Talk on ‘Conan Stone: Discovery, Description, Context, Progress’ by Susan Kruse (NoSAS)

2-4pm: Children’s activities led by the Inverness Young Archaeologists Club, video on Pictish stone carving, replica handling, information about the Conan stone.

Members and leaders of the Inverness Young Archaeologists Club will also be on hand to provide information to any prospective members. The club takes all children 8-15 years old, and is part of the national network of Young Archaeologists Clubs.

The Conan stone features as the ARCH Find of the Month, February 2020.
