Dun Da Lamh: Exploring Laggan's Hillfort

Online talk by Matt Ritchie, Part of Badenoch Heritage Festival

Bookings via EventBrite

The hillfort of Dun da Lamh in Laggan is a great place to explore the archaeological narrative approach in popular interpretation. Based on archaeological measured survey and typological comparison with excavated sites, the best archaeological illustrative reconstructions balance factual understanding with creative engagement, using a central narrative theme, a composition rooted in archaeological knowledge and a creative, engaging style. This talk will describe the method and practice of the archaeological narrative approach in popular interpretation, focusing on the very Highland hillfort of Dun da Lamh, but also visiting similar hillforts on Scotland’s national forests and land.
