Museums and Education Post Covid

Workshop organised by XpoNorth and Museums Heritage Highland, aimed at museums.

Education is at the heart of all museum activity and prior to COVID-19museums provided education activities predominantly in the form ofguided tours, staff visits, school outreach, loan boxes and professionaldevelopment for teachers. When the pandemic hit many took theireducation online, firstly by providing digital resources for use at homeor in school and in time some experimented with virtual visits utilisingvideo conferencing tech. As we emerge from the pandemic museums arelooking to the future, looking to relaunch some of those in personactivities which are so important while capitalising on theopportunities of digital engagement both for local and global audiences. We will be joined in Gairloch by Steve Gardam of the Roald Dahl Museum,Gillian MacNee of Historic Environment Scotland, Katey Boal of NTS andmore to share their experience of the last few years and thoughts on howmuseums (especially small to medium sized organisations with lowresources) can best navigate this hybrid world.
