 Room to Discover, Inverness Museum and Art Gallery

Lorna MacLennan the Strategic Project Officer for the Inverness Townscape Heritage Project will present on this partnership initiative, created with the specific aim to help Academy Street through its built heritage. The key partners are Highland Council (lead); Inverness City Heritage Trusts; Heritage Lottery Fund and Inverness BID. High Life Highland Cultural Services, including IMAG, Highland Archives and Inverness Library are also contributing to some elements of the project. Lorna will introduce how the project is going to work for the next 5 years, to amongst other things, preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the area, repair and restore authentic details by offering grant assistance to facilitate the restoration of these historically significant buildings, increase training opportunities in heritage construction skills, engagement in the Heritage of Academy St and the City Centre, bringing the story of the street to life.
