Reconstructing the Past [Helmsdale]

19 May 2018, Starts: 10:00, Ends: 17:00

Reconstructing the Past

Timespan Museum, Helmsdale

Come and explore Iron Age landscapes near the museum using digital technology! Find out how objects in the museum's collection and even archaeological sites are digitally reconstructed - from beneath the ground to standing wall and roof structures - and learn what life would have been like in a traditional roundhouse. Prepare to be transported to the past!

Part of the 'Voices from the Roundhouse: Sounds of the Souterrain' weekend of events, exploring the acoustics and sounds of archaeological sites and interpreting them through creative voice narratives and objects from the museum's collection. The events will be led by an archaeologist, sound artist and storyteller, who will explore the sights and sounds of Iron Age roundhouses and underground passages and inspire participants with stories and creative making sessions.
