Early Newtonmore

Join this free guided walk led by Mary Mackenzie, author of The New Townies of the Moor, to hear about the fascinating history of Newtonmore.

This route is graded as EASY, a short gentle walk along the main street.

The walk will meet at the Sustrans 7 sign (see photo below) beside the west entrance to the Monarch Apartments (near the Harris Tweed Shop at the Laggan Road junction) and walk along to the Balavil carpark before crossing the road and walking back towards the starting point.

There are two tour start times, 9.30 am and 11.30 am. Please arrive 5 mins early. On arrival, please make yourself known to the Badenoch Heritage staff, who will check your registration.

This tour is for adults only and is accessible for wheelchair users. No dogs, please.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are sufficiently fit and healthy to take part in this walk.

There is free parking at the Highland Council car park on Glen Road and some limited parking along the Main Street.

Although this event is free, pre-booking via Eventbrite is essential as the group size will be limited.
