Site Tour: Dunballoch, Kirkhill WWII EAM

08 March 2023, Starts: 10:00, Ends: 12:30

One last chance…..

This is an invitation to join a NOSAS field trip led by Alasdair Cameron and Roland Spencer-Jones to the WWII huts at Dunballoch just outside Kirkhill.  If you would like to join us, please contact Roland: roland.spencerjones@gmail.com  Bookings are essential.

The five sets of two huts were built in a hurry in 1941 as EAM’s (Equipment Ammunition Magazines) to house equipment and ammunition for anti-aircraft guns. They have lasted remarkably well since then, but are now falling down. As such they are posing a H&S risk and are due to be demolished in the near future. They are unusual structures, so before they go, they will be photographed, recorded and written up in a project led by Aird Heritage Group. NOSAS and ARCH will also be involved.
