The Excavation of Caird’s Cave, Rosemarkie
Talk by Simon Gunn
Dingwall Community Centre
Description:
In 1912, Dr William MacLean, the Fortrose and Rosemarkie GP excavated Cairds' Cave near Rosemarkie and found implements made of bone and antler. Nearly a hundred years later, a group of local archaeologists returned to the cave to investigate Dr MacLean's excavations and see if the history of the cave could be established. Simon Gunn will describe these excavations and other caves on the Black Isle.
ARCH lectures are held on the last Monday of every month (except December) from October to May at Dingwall Community Centre, 7:30, followed by coffees and teas. Suggested donation of £3 per lecture.
