‘The Treasure Chests of Local History: Researching Gairloch area in the nineteenth century’

Talk by Pauline Butler

Gairloch Community Hall Annex

Description:

Wouldn’t we all like to find that hoard of ‘hidden’ treasures? For an historian embarking on a new project, there is always the hope of unearthing gems and nuggets buried deep in an archive, a cupboard, or even a memory. In this talk Pauline will divulge the locations of her Wester Ross prospecting (whilst researching the public and private life of Osgood H. Mackenzie of Inverewe) to reveal treasure troves to share with all interested in their local heritage.

Organised by Gairloch Heritage Museum. All lectures will last roughly an hour, including an opportunity for Q&A with the speaker and include a cup of tea or coffee.
Standard Admission: £3
Museum Members: £1.50
