A guided tour of Knockfarrel, one of the best preserved vitrified Iron Age hillforts in the Highlands, and site of one of Scotland’s earliest archaeological excavations.

Meet at 2pm at the hillfort (parking is available near the fort; contact the ARCH office for instructions on how to get there), or meet at Strathpeffer (car park on road up to Ardival) at 1pm for guided walk up to the fort via the maze.

Reasonable level of fitness needed, and full waterproofs, stout shoes etc. The climb can be slippery if wet. Children welcome if accompanied by parent/guardian.

Part of Scottish Archaeology Month, and a prequel to Highland Archaeology Festival.
