Crofting Experience at Acheilidh Heritage Croft, Rogart

Meet at Historylinks at 1pm for the minibus to Acheilidh croft in Rogart , where participants will meet the Crofter Angus for an introduction to the cows and sheep.

Then try your hand using a Shetland spade and sickle and have instruction in scything and using a foot plough. Walk among the rich meadow plants and identify the many species. FInd out all about peat and have a go at threshing and making a rush wick.

Time for a break with tea and traditional bere bannocks before demonstrations of spinning and carding with opportunities for hands-on participation with the Dornoch Spinners.
