Dingwall Museum goes to Muir of Ord

Venue: Marquee in the Sports Bowl, Muir of Ord. No booking needed.

Dingwall Museum will bring some of the museum's artefacts relating to the village, and encourage anyone local to the village to bring their objects, photos and memories. For this outreach meeting we join with Ross & Cromarty Heritage Society, who will also be bringing a stall.  There will be a focus on local schools and schooling.

Visitors are invited to bring old photos, objects or memories to share.

Heritage in Action at Highland Folk Museum

Each week, there will be a variety of crafting and skills going on throughout the museum. Come and see a building being thatched, learn how to play a traditional game, or try your hand at some coracling.

The museum store will also be open to the public, no booking required, from 2pm to 3:15pm (last entry).

Meet Taran the Pict

Organised by Inverness Museum and Art Gallery. Drop in session to hear Taran talk about his lifestyle, ask away during the Q&A sessions and get your hands on some objects that would have been used by the Pictish people. Free (donations encouraged)

Graveyard Tour and Nature Walk

Led by Jim Ritchie

Organised by Tarbat Discovery Centre, part of the Portmahomack Gala. Free. Further details from museum website.

Jim Ritchie will lead a tour outside the museum, revealing the symbols and stories hidden in our graveyard. This will also be a great chance to see what beasties and plants you can spot, as cemeteries are full of biodiversity. After the tour we will have ‘design your own clan crest’ activity sheets available. All ages are welcome to attend.
