Fishing in Assynt: Stories from Lochinver Harbour

Join Historic Assynt for a day exploring the fishing story of Lochinver and the wider Assynt coast — through film, archive photographs, local knowledge and community memories. Venue: Assynt Leisure, Culag New Pier

The day will include:

  • Historic Assynt archive photographs, maps and harbour material
  • a screening of the short film Herring Stories of the Minch
  • Fishing in Assynt by Dave McBain and others
  • contributions and displays from the Lochinver RNLI and Harbour Master
  • a stall from the Assynt Ranger, exploring local marine life and coastal sightings
  • an afternoon Lochinver Harbour Story Walk, looking at how the harbour and waterfront have changed

We'll round off the day with light refreshments and an informal sharing of stories and memories.
